In a world filled with tracking apps, sometimes the apps themselves can become the vector of an in-person threat.
Recently (2025-12) we were consulted to perform a threat modeling and assessment for a client developing a new mobile app on Supabase. The goal of the app was to provide a virtual “dead man’s switch” for the user in case something happened on a date or walking home. Should the user not respond to the app within a specified time period, a select group of contacts would be notified with the details and last known location. What could go wrong? A lot.
We performed a thorough analysis of the data structures, api endpoints, and security architecture to ensure that no one would be able to surreptitiously extract live or historical personal information from the system, guaranteeing the safety of the users. In addition we recommended real-time logging systems to detect if anyone was actively attempting to stalk someone.
How secure is your system? How can we help?
